Sage Circle of Excellence Accounting Awards

The Sage Circle of Excellence Accounting Awards is all about recognizing and celebrating you – our highly active and engaged Sage accountant and bookkeeper community. Join us in acknowledging the hard work and dedication you have shown to your practice and your community by nominating yourselves or any deserving accountant or bookkeeper in one or several of the award categories below. Once nominations close, a panel of judges will select the winners in each category, culminating in the awards celebration in Vancouver in the summer of 2019!

Ward provides consulting and training services as a partner with K2E Canada throughout the United States and Canada. The professional development courses presented by Ward include cloud computing, business intelligence, security, technology updates, internal controls, paperless office, mobile office, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Ward obtained his CPA, CA designation while working at a Nova Scotia regional accounting firm before starting his own consulting and accounting practice. His practice provides accounting, tax, training, support, and network evaluations for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

When offered the opportunity to join the Sage Circle of Excellence Judging Panel I jumped at the chance. To be involved in recognizing the individual bookkeepers and accountants that have made a positive impact on their clients and in their communities is truly an honour.

Colleen has been in the accounting industry for over 25 years, working in both public accounting and in industry. In 2012, she purchased a bookkeeping business, Security House Accounting Inc. which offers a full range of bookkeeping and tax services for small to medium sized businesses as well as individuals. Soon after, she joined the Institute of Professional Bookkeepers of Canada (IPBC) completing the Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) exam and earning her designation. Security House Accounting Inc. has since grown to include fifteen team members. Colleen is Vice Chair of the IPBC Board, Chair of the Accreditation and Compliance Committee, defining the policies related to the CPB designation and Continuing Education Credits, and a member of the Governance Committee. In 2016 she received the IPBC’s Fellowship Award and is an FCPB.

In her current role, Geneviève provides leadership to the creation, development and delivery of professional development programs within the Member Development and Support team at CPA Canada.

During her career, Geneviève has had the opportunity to work in increasingly senior positions in various industries. Before joining CPA Canada, Geneviève was the Senior Director Finance and Technology for a large division of Rona. Some of her achievements include the participation in the negotiation and due diligence process for the sale and acquisition of multiple mid-size to large organizations, the transition from a publicly traded ownership to a privately owned organization and the deployment of a Business Intelligence technology to the entire organization.

Since 2002, Geneviève has acquired extensive teaching experience, including being an associate professor at Ryerson University, and at the Royal Military College, delivering Management Accounting courses. She has also prepared and guided accounting candidates in obtaining their accounting designation. For over 10 years, she taught the Strategic and Leadership program for CMA Ontario and prior to this, moderated for a number of years with CMA Quebec.

Eligibility

  • Nominees do not need to be Sage Accountant Network members, however nominees must support Sage products.
  • Nominees can nominate themselves.
  • Nominators can nominate multiple nominees.
  • Employees of software companies cannot be nominated.
  • Nominees should be based in Canada.

Nomination Process

  • To nominate, nominators must provide the following information in the nomination form: nominees' full name, nominees’ contact details and a short write-up (approximately 200 words) explaining why the nominee is deserving or embodies the award.
  • Once a nomination form is submitted, nominees will be notified via email.
  • Nominees have the option to decline the nomination and be removed from consideration.
  • The deadline for nomination form submissions is May 10, 2019 11:59 pm PT.

Winner Selection

  • Once nominations close, a panel of independent judges will rank nomination write-ups based on its embodiment of the award.
  • The three highest ranked nomination write-ups will be the finalists in each award category.
  • The highest ranked nomination write-up will be the winner in each award category.
  • Winners will be announced at the awards reception.
